LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers as expected selected the contract of left-handed pitcher David Huff to make a spot start on Tuesday night against the Mariners. To make room on the active roster, infielder Darwin Barney was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Without needing a fifth starter until Tuesday night, the Dodgers were able to carry an extra position player for the first seven games of the season. Barney was 0-for-4 in two games so far this season. He played third base in reserve on Saturday night and started at shortstop on Monday night.
