Clayton Kershaw nearly perfect as Dodgers beat Padres, 1-0

Only one man could stop the Dodgers’ losing streak. Clayton Kershaw squashed the Padres with his arm and propelled the moribund lineup with his bat in a 1-0 victory over San Diego.

Kershaw spun the 13th shutout of his career. He struck out 14 and scattered three singles. At the plate, he drove in the game’s only run with a third-inning single.

With the victory, the team ended a miserable week at Dodger Stadium. Six consecutive defeats preceded Sunday, which featured another frightful performance from the offense. Kershaw provided enough to end the skid.
