Clayton Kershaw lasts three innings in his return to the Dodgers

MIAMI – Clayton Kershaw worked harder but didn’t last any longer in his return to the Dodgers than he did in his rehab start with Class-A Rancho Cucamonga.

Kershaw was removed after three innings against the Miami Marlins on Friday night, trailing 2-0.

In his first major-league start since June 26, Kershaw had runners on base in each inning. He gave up a solo home run to Marlins catcher J.T. Realmuto on his sixth pitch then allowed another run in the second inning on three hits – a double by Jeff Francoeur and singles by Chris Johnson and the opposing pitcher Jose Fernandez.
