LOS ANGELES - Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw will start a do-or-die Game 4 of the National League Division Series today against the Washington Nationals. Right-hander Joe Ross starts for Washington. The game begins at 2 p.m. Pacific Time by virtue of the Chicago Cubs’ loss to the San Francisco Giants last night.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts and Nationals manager Dusty Baker did not reveal their starting pitchers until the morning of the game.
Roberts said the decision to start Kershaw hinged on the availability of his relief pitchers -- “with how they’ve been used the last couple days, and looking at potential for Julio (Urias), and obviously there’s some pitch-count mindfulness with Julio.
