Thanks in large part to Chris Heisey, the Dodgers on Thursday afternoon reduced their magic number to clinch the National League West to at least four when they took a 6-3 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks before an announced crowd of 38,234 on a scorching day at Dodger Stadium.
Trailing 3-0, the Dodgers put up six runs in the bottom of the fifth. The final four came on a grand slam by Heisey, a line drive off Arizona reliever Andrew Chafin that went just inside the left-field foul pole. It was the Dodgers’ fourth grand slam this season.
