According to reports, Charter Communications will begin carrying SportsNet LA within the next couple of weeks.
Charter announced Tuesday that it intends to merge with Time Warner Cable, which operates SNLA, the Dodgers cable network whose subscription base comprises only about 30 percent of the Los Angeles/Orange County TV market.
The announced merger between Charter and TWC faces the same government approval that Comcast was recently denied. With a smaller subscription base, however, the hope is that Charter might be viewed more favorably by SEC and trade commission regulators. More importantly, at least to Dodgers fans, Charter plans to carry SNLA regardless of whether the deal goes through or not.
