Charter Communications, which serves several cities in Southern California, will carry SportsNet LA “within the next couple of weeks,” a company spokesman said.
Charter announced Tuesday that it intends to merge with Time Warner Cable, which operates SNLA, the Dodgers cable network whose subscription base comprises only about 30 percent of the Los Angeles/Orange County TV market.
The merger faces the same government approval that Comcast couldn’t get. But with a smaller subscription base, among other factors, Charter might be viewed more favorably. And Charter plans to carry SNLA regardless of whether the deal goes through, Charter spokesman Alex Dudley said.
