The Dodgers made a move that flew a little under the radar last weekend, signing longtime MLB reliever Ken Giles to a minor league deal.
Giles, 32, last appeared with the Seattle Mariners at the MLB level, pitching 4.1 scoreless innings in 2022.
Giles’ career began way back in 2014 with the Philadelphia Phillies, when he came out of nowhere as a dominant reliever. Giles ended up working his way up to closer status, having five straight seasons with double-digit saves, including a career-high 34 saves in 2017 with the Houston Astros.
Giles then joined the Toronto Blue Jays for a few years, where his career somewhat tailed off in 2020.
