Left-handed pitcher Caleb Ferguson is set to begin his rehab assignment in Rancho Cucamonga on Friday, per Jorge Castillo on Twitter.
This is his first step in making his way back to the big leagues after being placed on the 10-day injured list with an oblique injury on Apr. 28. His injury came at the perfect time to clear up a roster spot for Rich Hill to join the team.
Tony Cingrani’s left shoulder injury also put off the question of how to make room on the roster, given so many options the Dodgers have.
