Brock Stewart also recalled. Ross Stripling optioned.

LOS ANGELES — The Dodgers on Monday recalled outfielder Trayce Thompson from Triple-A Oklahoma City before their Freeway Series with the Angels.

Thompson’s father, former Lakers backup center Mychal Thompson, broke the news of his son’s call up on his morning radio show on ESPN 710 AM on Monday.

The Dodgers also recalled pitcher Brock Stewart for extra bullpen coverage after Sunday’s nine-inning marathon, in which the bullpen pitched six innings. Ross Stripling was optioned to Triple-A, and Brandon McCarthy was placed on the 10-day disabled list with right knee inflammation (more on McCarthy in a moment).
