The unit showed improvement in the second half with the emergence of Chris Hatcher, who has earned a home in the eighth inning. Hatcher was dismal in the first half of the season, posting a 6.38 ERA in 18 1/3 innings. After returning to the club from an oblique injury that sidelined him for two months, Hatcher has a 1.31 ERA and six holds.
