The Los Angeles Dodgers are calling up another young pitcher to potentially make his major league debut and designated another for assignment.
Ben Casparius, is expected to be added to the 40-man roster ahead of Sunday’s game against the St. Louis Cardinals. Corresponding moves to make room for him include transferring River Ryan to the 60-day injured list and DFA’ing Brent Honeywell, according to the Athletic’s Fabian Ardaya.
Transferring Ryan opens up a spot on the 40-man and DFA’ing Honeywell gives him an opening on the 26-man roster. Honeywell was out of options.
Per Ardaya’s post on X, Casparius will be available out of the bullpen for length.
