To generations of Southern Californians, Vin Scully is a family friend.
A year from now, it will truly hit us what we’re missing. Even now, as the venerable Scully begins his 67th and final season of broadcasting Dodgers games, the reality is creeping up on us – even those of us who, thanks to corporate malfeasance, are limited to three simulcast innings of The Master on radio.
More on that subject later.
But maybe the hissing match between Time Warner Cable (and the Dodgers) on one side, and a multitude of cable and satellite providers on the other, is such an abomination precisely because it is Scully being held hostage just as much as those who don’t have access to the games.
