Two-time general manager Josh Byrnes has been interviewed for the Angels general manager job, the first confirmed candidate with previous experience as a major league GM.
Byrnes, who was the GM of the Arizona Diamondbacks and then the San Diego Padres, is currently working for the Dodgers as the vice president of baseball operations.
Byrnes, 45, was the general manager of the Diamondbacks from 2005 until 2010. When he was fired, former Angels GM Jerry Dipoto took over as the interim GM.
Byrnes then took over the San Diego Padres prior to the 2011 season. He was fired after the 2014 season, and hired by the Dodgers.
