Andre Ethier has 2018 option declined, 12-year tenure with Dodgers likely to end

The Dodgers have paid Andre Ethier a $2.5 million buyout, declining the 2018 option on the outfielder that would’ve cost the team $17.5 million. This marks the conclusion of the five-year, $85 million contract extension that Ethier signed back in 2012 under then-GM Ned Colletti.

Acquired by Colletti in a steal of trade back in 2005 that sent Milton Bradley and Antonio Perez to the Athletics, Ethier was a two-time All-Star (2010, 2011) with the Dodgers, earning a Silver Slugger in 2009 and somehow a Gold Glove in 2011.
