After being designated for assignment by the Seattle Mariners in May, the Dodgers claimed relief pitcher Erik Goeddel off waivers. The 29-year-old had three months of solid outings, until his season was cut short due to right elbow inflammation.
Goeddel quickly established himself as one of LA’s better options coming out of the bullpen. He didn’t allow a run in his first 13 appearances with the Dodgers. In 14 1⁄3 innings, he had 16 strikeouts, and opponents were hitting .208 with an OPS of only .521.
The right-hander was practically untouchable throughout the entire month of July, not allowing a single run in seven games.
