The Class-A Great Lakes Loons is in the postseason for the first time in two years, and opens the Midwest League playoffs on Wednesday night with Game 1 of the Eastern Division quarterfinal against the Lansing Lugnuts (Blue Jays) at home in Midland, Mich.
The Loons qualified for the playoffs by virtue of winning the first-half wild card in the Eastern Division, finishing at 38-30 (.559), percentage points ahead of the Dayton Dragons (Reds), who were 39-31 (.557). It is the first postseason berth for the Loons since 2013 and their fourth trip to the playoffs in the nine years of the franchise.
