The Athletics are getting Jharel Cotton in the deal. Cotton is currently in Triple-A, where the 24-year-old posted a 8-5 record, 4.90 ERA and a 1.15 WHIP. Cotton is the No. 13 prospect in the Dodgers' system. Montas spent some time with the White Sox in the majors last year, but was shipped to the Dodgers as part of the three-team deal for Todd Frazier. The 23-year-old can hit 100 on the radar gun and is the Dodgers No. 8 prospect. Holmes is the No. 5 prospect and was a 2014 first round pick. The 20-year-old is currently in high A-Ball, where has an 8-4 record with a 4.02 ERA and a 1.39 WHIP.
For a pair of rentals, the Athletics are getting a solid return for the injured Hill and Reddick. The Dodgers badly needed starting pitching help, and Hill should provide that once he's healthy. With the addition of Reddick, the Dodgers could trade Yasiel Puig.
