Despite swirling trade rumors surrounding young Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig, it doesn't appear that he will be dealt before the MLB Trade Deadline passes on July 31st.
Per CBS Sports' Jon Heyman, "Puig has been assured by Dodgers higher-ups he will not be dealt this trading season, sources close to the team said."
"Puig, the mercurial and occasionally controversial talent, was reassured within the last couple days in New York after hearing rumors he could be dealt to the Reds or elsewhere for needed pitching, according to those sources," Heyman added "Puig took the extra step of inquiring about his status after hearing the rumors."
Puig, 24, has been hampered by injury this year, limiting him to just 51 games so far in 2015. He's posting a .259/.335/.434 slash with a noted dip in production (6 HR, 22 RBI) in 188 at-bats.
