The MLB trade deadline on July 31st is rapidly approaching, and the trade rumors around the Los Angeles Dodgers are starting to heat up. Los Angeles is 48-39 and in second place in the NL West. The Dodgers are in the mix for a wild card spot, and could look to swing a trade or two to help ensure they make the postseason. With that in mind, here all the latest Dodgers trade rumors.
Dodgers Interested In Jay Bruce?
Reds OF Jay Bruce is almost certainly going to be traded before the deadline, and Ken Rosenthal reports the Dodgers are one of the teams interested in Bruce.
As for other moves, the Dodgers and Nationals are among the teams interested in Bruce, according to major-league sources, and the Indians are another reported possibility.
The Dodgers certainly have the payroll to afford Bruce's $12 million deal. Yasiel Puig is currently in right field, but either Bruce or Puig could move to left if a trade is completed.
Los Angeles Wants Chris Archer?
The Dodgers are looking for starting pitching help, and they could target Rays pitcher Chris Archer. Despite the Dodgers' interest, Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe reports it's unlikely the Rays part with Archer.
The Dodgers have been sniffing hard on Archer but have been rebuffed so far. Despite the fact that Archer has had a poor season, there are obvious ties with Andrew Friedman now in charge of the Dodgers’ front office. The Dodgers are considered one of the few teams that can pull off a major deal for a pitcher given their potential trade chips with a rich farm system. But right now the answer on Archer is no.
Cafardo mentions Rays pitcher Matt Moore as another player the Dodgers have interest. Tampa is in the cellar of the AL East, and could start selling closer to the deadline.
L.A. Looking At Rich Hill?
In addition to the two Rays pitchers mentioned above, the Dodgers are one of several teams interested in Oakland A's pitcher Rich Hill, reports the San Francisco Chronicle. Hill returned from the disabled list Saturday and the Dodgers at sent scouts to watch. The 36-year-old Hill has been great in this season, as well as his four-game stint with the Red Sox last year. With the A's struggling again this year, Hill is firmly on the trade block.
