In this Dodgers news update, several reports indicated last week that the Los Angeles Dodgers are aggressively trying to shop Matt Kemp, Carl Crawford, and Andre Ethier in trade scenarios this winter.
According to ESPN's Buster Olney, Andre Ethier is far and away the likeliest of the trio of outfielders to be traded before the 2015 MLB season:
Some rival evaluators believe that the most likely LAD outfielder to be traded, by far, is Andre Ethier--but LAD will weigh their options.
— Buster Olney (@Buster_ESPN) November 16, 2014
Ethier, 32, posted the worst offensive numbers of his career in 2014, hitting to a .249/.322/.370 split with four home runs and 42 RBI in 380 plate appearances.
The Dodgers still owe about $56 million to Ethier going into year three of his five-year, $85 million contract extension signed back in June 2012.
It is likely that Los Angeles would have to eat a solid portion of that money in any potential deal. Just how much they're willing to take on in dead money is still unclear at this time.
