Veteran outfielder/first baseman Mike Carp has parted ways with the Los Angeles Dodgers, opting out of his minor-league contract with the team just two weeks after signing it, per an MLB Trade Rumors report.
According to Aaron Gleeeman of NBC's Hardball Talk, there is "no word yet on whether Carp has another deal lined up, so it’s possible he decided to leave simply because the playing time in the Triple-A lineup was going to be sparse for the 28-year-old."
Carp had a breakout season of sorts in a part-time role with the 2013 World Series champion Boston Red Sox, but he sputtered to a .175 average with the Red Sox and Texas Rangers last season.
