The Los Angeles Dodgers are reportedly looking to reunite with former catcher Russell Martin, per a report on the free agent backstop by CBS Sports' Jon Heyman.
Per Heyman, "the Dodgers are looking into bringing back top free-agent catcher Russell Martin, league sources said, and they certainly have the spending power to become a formidable obstacle to the Cubs or incumbent Pirates."
"The [Toronto Blue] Jays are a fourth team reportedly in the mix for Martin," Heyman added.
Martin is a popular target and, by far, looks to be the top catcher on the current free-agent market. Russell posted a .402 on-base percentage and .290 batting average in 2014, along with throwing out 39% of the baserunners who attempted to steal on him.
If the small market Pirates are unable to piece together a deal to re-sign Martin, don't be shocked if the deep pockets and talent level of the Dodgers make them a favorite to bring the veteran catcher back to Chavez Ravine.
