The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled pitcher Joe Wieland to the big league club on Wednesday, optioning Daniel Coulombe to Triple-A in a corresponding move.
Wieland took the mound as the team's starter on Wednesday night in Milwaukee, but he was welcomed rudely with a five-run inning by the Brewers to open the scoring off in the bottom of the first.
Wieland would last just 4 2/3 innings altogether, giving up six earned runs on six hits while walking four and striking out two. He ended taking the loss in a 6-3 Brewers win.
Coulombe, on the other hand, had just been recalled from Triple-A on Monday, giving the Dodgers nine relief pitchers to work with during the first two games in Milwaukee. Coulombe made his only MLB appearance of the season so far on Tuesday, allowing a run in the ninth innings on a hit and a walk.
