With just a few days remaining until the MLB Trade Deadline, the Los Angeles Dodgers remain somewhat active in their efforts to pull off a trade. Though they haven't made one yet, LA has been expressing interest in several top-tier pitchers and are trying to add bullpen help. Here are three possible trades the Dodgers could make before the trade deadline.
1) Acquire Yu Darvish from Rangers
The Dodgers were scouting Yu Darvish earlier this week and have "strong interest" in acquiring him before the deadline. Darvish is entering the final year of his contract and may only be a rental for Los Angeles, and the Dodgers may not be willing to part with the prospects necessary to get him without a long-term commitment. They want to pair ace Clayton Kershaw with another top quality pitcher in their push for a World Series title.
2) Trade for Addison Reed
Los Angeles has already shown interest in Reed, who the Mets are making readily available. The Dodgers are looking for a setup man and Reed could fill that role. He has a 2.63 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP this year for the Mets, with 18 saves. Of course, Kenley Jansen would remain the Dodgers' closer, but Reed would be a big upgrade out of the bullpen.
3) Dodgers pull off shocker for Felipe Rivero
Another bullpen option for Los Angeles, Rivero is in high demand and a player Pittsburgh is reluctant to part with, but the Dodgers have one of the top farm systems in the majors. They have maintained their desire to hold onto their best prospects, they may part with a few to land a player of Rivero's ilk.
The 26-year-old has a 0.68 ERA with six saves and 60 strikeouts in 52.2 innings in 49 appearances so far this season. He is under team control through the 2021 season.
