We're just days away from the 2015 MLB trade deadline, which means there are plenty of rumors swirling around the Los Angeles Dodgers and what they might do on the trade market. Here are two trades they could make:
Trade SS Alex Guerrero, P Jose De Leon, IF/OF Darnell Sweeney, P Chris Reed to Phillies for Cole Hamels
The Dodgers have emerged as the likely favorites to land Phillies ace Cole Hamels, according to Jayson Stark of ESPN.
Philadelphia has had serious discussions about Hamels with at least five other teams – the Rangers, Cubs, Yankees, Giants and Red Sox – but Stark's source says those teams don’t match up as well as Los Angeles (though Texas is close behind). Momentum is certainly building towards a trade, and offers for Hamels have improved since he threw a no-hitter, according to Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal.
Los Angeles wants to keep top prospects Corey Seager or Julio Urias, according to Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com, meaning they'll have to give up a lot of other prospects to make this deal work. However, that's not something they seem to be afraid of.
Same trade to Tigers for David Price
Los Angeles has made it clear that they only plan to pursue top level arms on the trade market, meaning their only two real targets are Hamels and Price. If the Phillies won't budge on a deal for Hamels without the inclusion of Seager and Urias, expect for the Dodgers to quickly turn to the Tigers.
Price will be a free agent after the season, and there's no guaranteed that he'll re-sign with the club. However, the Tigers haven't decided if they're willing to be sellers at the deadline, and are expected to wait until the end of the week before making a decision on Price - which could drive the price down.
