The Clippers made their final roster cut of the preseason as they announced that Rayjon Tucker has been waived. That means the team now has 14 players with guaranteed NBA contracts, and two two-way players: Amir Coffey and Jay Scrubb.
It was somewhat curious that the team waited this long to part with Tucker, considering they let go of three other training-camp invitees earlier this week. At the time, I posited that Tucker was still in the running for a two-way deal, potentially over Scrubb, but the no. 55 draft pick held onto his spot.
It’s also possible that the Clippers just wanted to keep one extra player on the roster for their final preseason game for depth purposes, and they picked Tucker because he spent last season with the Utah Jazz.
