Former Lakers and Clippers forward Sean Rooks died Tuesday, his mother confirmed in a statement released by the Philadelphia 76ers.
Rooks, 46, spent the past two years working as a player development assistant on Brett Brown’s coaching staff in Philadelphia.
The cause of death was not yet confirmed, but Yahoo Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Rooks collapsed and died in a Philadelphia restaurant hours after interviewing for an assistant coach position with the New York Knicks.
“It is with deep sadness and overwhelming grief that we mourn the sudden loss of my son, Sean,” Deborah Brown said in the statement.
