HOUSTON – Point guard Chris Paul will not play Monday night against the Rockets in Game 1.
Head coach Doc Rivers announced the decision before the game and believed there was too much risk testing Paul’s hamstring after he strained it Saturday in Game 7.
“I just don’t think he was healthy enough to play,” Rivers said. “I guess in a Game 7 he probably could have played, but I’m not even sure with that. I just don’t think the risk is worth it.”
Rivers didn’t announce who will start at point guard, but he said Austin Rivers, Jamal Crawford and Lester Hudson are all options to play the position.
