Clippers coach Doc Rivers was happy about a lot of things from Tuesday night’s 130-95 rout of the defending-champion Golden State Warriors at Staples Center.
He was stoked about how well the team played as a whole — particularly the second unit. As much as anything, he was pleased with the way his team defended, even though the Warriors did not play Steph Curry or Andre Iguodala in the exhibition game.
For a team that in 2014-15 was 16th out of 30 teams in points, allowing at 100.1 per game, that’s a good sign.
“I think, especially the new guys, all of them kind of stood out defensively,” said Rivers, whose team held the Warriors to 41 percent shooting, just 23.
