The NBA is looking into an incident in which Clippers reserve guard Austin Rivers flung a seat cushion into the stands in frustration and striking a fan during his team’s season opener Wednesday night.
The investigation into the matter at Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento was confirmed by a league executive who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to publicly discuss the matter.
Rivers threw the cushion as he watched the Kings rally from a 15-point deficit, eventually taking a one-point lead before the Clippers pulled out a 111-104 victory.
The league executive said a decision on possible punishment for Rivers was expected Wednesday or Thursday.
