Rodney McGruder, who the Clippers claimed off of waivers at the end of the regular season, has agreed to remain in L.A. on a 3-year, $15 million deal, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo! sports.
McGruder is a solid player for L.A.’s rotation—he can guard all 3 perimeter positions and shot 35% from three last season on 5.2 attempts per 36 minutes. He likely slots in as a backup. The question now for LAC is who he’ll be backing up, as they continue waiting for news on Kawhi Leonard. McGruder, along with recent Clippers addition Maurice Harkless, could both be part of an impressive group of wing players ready to step in during any Kawhi load management scenarios.
