Marreese Speights declines option with Clippers, to be free agent

Center Marreese Speights has declined his 2017-18 player option with the LA Clippers, so he can become an unrestricted free agent in July, ASM Sports announced Tuesday.

Speights made the veteran minimum of $1.4 million for the 2016-17 NBA season and would have earned $2.1 million had he picked up the option. Speights should draw interest from several teams looking to add depth in the frontcourt, if he doesn't re-sign with the Clippers.
