According to the world-famous Oxford English Dictionary an “emoji” is defined as, “a small digital image or icon used to express an idea, emotion, etc., in electronic communication.”
This small, but socially relevant means of electronical communication would become all the rage at the beginning of July in basketball circles. For that was when — at the very end of the NBA’s free-agent moratorium period — coveted Los Angeles Clippers unrestricted free-agent DeAndre Jordan opted to renege upon a previously spoken upon verbal agreement to join the Dallas Mavericks as a star free-agent.
This “emoji-nal” offseason saga reached a comical climax when Jordan and several of his Los Angeles Clippers teammates — chiefly Blake Griffin — were holed up inside of Jordan’s palatial Houston home for days just prior to the commencement of the official free-agent signing period.
