The L.A. Clippers have acquired a future, conditional second-round draft pick from the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for guard Derrick Walton Jr., it was announced today by President of Basketball Operations Lawrence Frank.
Walton Jr., 24, appeared in 23 games in his lone season with the Clippers, averaging 2.2 points and 1.0 assist in 9.7 minutes. The 6’0”, 185-pound point guard has played in 39 NBA games over two seasons with the Clippers and the Miami Heat. Prior to his NBA career, Walton Jr. played four years at the University of Michigan, earning 2013-14 Big Ten All-Freshman honors and the 2017 Big Ten Tournament MVP.
