The wait was longer than expected, but the destination might have been worth it.
UCLA freshman forward Kevon Looney had to wait until the NBA champion Golden State Warriors made the 30th and last pick of the first round to hear his name called Thursday at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
Tapped in many mock drafts to be selected in the middle of the first round, Looney dropped after teams reportedly were scared off by a hip injury.
The 6-foot-9 Looney, who was recruited out of Milwaukee, averaged 11.6 points on 47 percent shooting with 9.2 rebounds in his only season with the Bruins.
