PLAYA VISTA, Calif. -- Doc Rivers said Monday that Kawhi Leonard is unlikely to play in the LA Clippers' two preseason games in Hawaii as the team plays it safe with its new star forward.
When asked if Leonard will be seen playing in Hawaii, where the Clippers will hold training camp this week while playing preseason games against the Houston Rockets and the Shanghai Sharks, the coach likened treating Leonard to how an NFL team typically protects its starting quarterback in the preseason.
"Yeah, if you're at a practice, I'll answer it that way," Rivers said when asked if Leonard will play in Hawaii.
