Irvine Unified students reflect on lobbying trip to Sacramento

A group of 30 students from Irvine public high schools recently flew to Sacramento to voice their concerns about the lack of government funding for schools and to show support for vocational education.

Irvine Unified School District is known as one of the highest performing school districts in Southern California, but receives less funding per student than the state or county average, district officials said. That’s mainly because it doesn’t have as many English-language learners, low-income students and foster youth as other districts do.
