For all the Clippers’ victories over recent years, for all their solid performances and success, few have happened in the New Jersey/New York area.
The Clippers had not beaten the Nets on the road since 2007, when Chris Kaman and Tim Thomas were on the team. That streak included last season’s two-point loss after the Clippers carried an eight-point lead into the fourth quarter.
Determined to avoid a repeat (barely) and start a new trend, the Clippers held on Saturday and defeated the Nets in Brooklyn, 105-100.
It was neither pretty nor easy.
Much like the last time the Clippers stepped foot in the Barclays Center, they held a significant lead (77-63) heading into the fourth quarter and pushed that to 18 in the final quarter.
