Almost a year after they opposed each other in probate court for control of the Clippers, Donald Sterling and his wife Shelly are heading for divorce.
In documents acquired by the Register, Donald Sterling filed for divorce Tuesday in Superior Court of California in Los Angeles, 16 days before the couple's 60th anniversary.
The Sterlings, who remained married during numerous public issues, were at odds after Donald Sterling was recorded making racist remarks to his associate, V. Stiviano.
That recording triggered a series of events that resulted in the team being sold to Steve Ballmer for $2 billion despite Donald Sterling's wishes.
