Just a couple days into free agency (July 2), it was reported that the Clippers were re-signing wing Rodney McGruder to a 3 year, $15 million deal. Since that time, it has been revealed that the third year of his contract is non-guaranteed, making it all the better in terms of flexibility and as a trade asset. The Clippers added McGruder off waivers at the very end of the 2018-2019 season: even though he was not eligible to play in the postseason, they were able to re-sign him using his bird rights.
