With former lottery pick Nikoloz Tskitshvili cut after one preseason game, the race to earn the final roster spot was narrowed to two players: Chuck Hayes and Luc Mbah a Moute, with the latter winning out as Dan Woike reports the Clippers will waive Hayes, and in the process, cutting the roster number down to 15 which is the max allowed during the regular season.
The Clippers would later confirm the Hayes waiving via press release.
Hayes, NBA player of 10 seasons, appeared in 29 games for the Toronto Raptors last season, and as an unrestricted free agent this past summer, agreed to a one-year non-guaranteed deal worth the veteran’s minimum with the Clippers, which was an indication of the forward needing to beat out the competition to find land a roster spot for the ’15-16 season.
