Clippers to sign Jeff Ayres for rest of season

Adding depth for the upcoming playoff push, the Clippers have signed former San Antonio Spurs big man Jeff Ayres for the rest of the 2015-16, via The Vertical’s Shams Charania.

Jeff’s arrival on the Clippers, late January, came as a measure from the front office to add depth to the frontline as the team continued on without the injured Blake Griffin. But after the second 10-day contract expired, the Clippers opted to move on from Ayres, bringing on center Alex Stepheson instead. After Stepheson’s second 10-day expired — the big man is now apart of the decimated Memphis Grizzlies — the team directed back to the veteran in Ayres.
