The Clippers announced Saturday their decisions on their training camp contracts, trimming their roster to 14 ahead of the NBA regular season opening next week. Teams can carry up to 20 players through camp, but must cut their roster to 15 players by opening night. Because of their precarious luxury tax situation, the Clippers will only carry 14 on their roster this season; another minimum-salary contract would potentially cost them dozens of millions of dollars over the coming years.
So, it was obvious from the days that C.J. Williams, Tyrone Wallace, Marshall Plumlee, and Ike Ireogbu were signed that they would not make the opening night roster.
