Clippers eyeing No. 4 seed and Game 7 advantage

LOS ANGELES – As much as has been made about the Clippers’ push to overtake Utah for the No. 4 seed in the Western Conference playoffs, Doc Rivers sees only one real advantage to owning home-court advantage in the first round.

"Game 7,” Rivers said. “Game 7s are big ... I’ll go out on a limb and say that the (high) percentages of Game 7 have gone to the home team over the years.”

Rivers is right. The home team has won 80.1 percent of the Game 7s in league history. Finishing with the fourth seed would allow the Clippers to host their opponent, presumably the Jazz, in the deciding game of a first-round series.
