Josh Smith’s time with the Clippers has come to an end.
Early Friday morning, the team sent Smith with the draft rights of Sergei Lishouk and cash to Houston for the rights to Maarty Leunen.
The Clippers used the newly created roster spot to sign former San Antonio Spurs back up Jeff Ayres to a 10-day contract.
The trade and subsequent signing were first reported by Yahoo! Sports.
The cash the Clippers’ sent out in the trade covers the remaining portion of Smith’s minimum salary this year, making them the second team in two years to pay for Smith to play elsewhere.
