The L.A. Clippers, Agua Caliente Clippers of Ontario and the Forum are pausing business on Friday, June 19th to celebrate Juneteenth as a paid company holiday in order to create space for reflection, education, action and engagement to advance racial equality.
Juneteenth is celebrated annually on June 19th. According to the National Museum of African American History and Culture, it honors the day in 1865 that Union troops announced to more than 250,000 enslaved people in the state of Texas that they were free by executive decree, following the Emancipation Proclamation’s issuance two and a half years earlier.
