After 36 years behind the microphone, Clippers broadcaster Ralph Lawler is receiving the kind recognition usually reserved for Hollywood entertainers. He will get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2016, the team announced Monday.
“Thrilled & humbled by the honor,” Lawler wrote on Twitter. “Lucky to have worked in this great City all these years. Thanks – Clippers.”
Lawler, 77, will join other legendary local sports broadcasters who have been so honored, including Vin Scully, Chick Hearn and Bob Miller.
Lawler has missed only one game in more than three decades, that coming this past season when he was recovering from complications to remove a kidney stone.
