Clippers believe urgency will dictate outcome in Game 5 vs Spurs

When the Clippers account for Doc Rivers’ honest film sessions, Chris Paul’s demanding leadership and Blake Griffin’s expanded game, an underlying theme emerges.

The difference between a debilitating loss or an inspiring win for the Clippers in their 2-2 first-round series against San Antonio traces to one thing. With Rivers calling the Clippers and Spurs “evenly matched” and describing his opponent as “really fundamentally sound,” the coach and his players echoed after Monday’s practice that urgency will be the main factor in the outcome of Game 5 at Staples Center on Tuesday.

“The more evenly matched the teams are, the more that will come into play,” Rivers said on Monday at the Clippers’ practice facility in Playa Vista.
