SANTA ANA – A man who police say was trying to commit a commercial burglary at a business in the 500 block of South Main Street only managed to get away with his wrists in handcuffs around 5 a.m., Tuesday, April 11.
The man smashed his way through a glass door to get into the store and tried to take cash from the register, but he couldn’t get it to open, Commander Jeffrey Smith said.
Next, he found the store’s safe and tried to break in through the digital keypad, but was unsuccessful, he said.
Officers who had been called to the scene by a witness set up a perimeter around the business.
